(Cap 478 sections 96 and 134) [2 September 1996] (L.N. 582 of 1995) Cap 478H s 1 (Omitted as spent) (Omitted as spent) (Enacted 1995) Cap 478H s 2 Certain Hong Kong ships to carry medical practitioners Subject to section 3, every Hong Kong ship which- (a) is not a coastal-going ship; and (b) goes to sea having 100 or more persons on board,shall carry a medical practitioner. (Enacted 1995) Cap 478H s 3 Exemptions The Authority may grant exemptions from section 2 for classes of cases or individual cases on such conditions, if any, as he thinks fit and may, subject to giving reasonable notice, alter or cancel any such exemption. (Enacted 1995) Cap 478H s 4 Offence The owner and the master of any Hong Kong ship who authorizes or permits the ship to go to sea in contravention of section 2, whether or not the ship so goes, commits an offence and is liable- (a) on conviction upon indictment, to a fine at level 6 and to imprisonment for 2 years; (b) on summary conviction, to a fine at level 3 and to imprisonment for 2 years.
